Welcome to Maude & the Bulldogs

Maude & the Bulldogs was born from one very special bulldog: Liam. With a rap sheet longer than a CVS receipt, Liam struggled with big emotions, aggression, reactivity, and behaviors that had us searching for answers.

After many tears, failed training attempts, we finally found the right trainer with the right philosophy, and everything changed. Liam grew into a confident, fulfilled dog who could simply be himself. He changed our lives.

Although we unexpectedly lost Liam in 2024, he inspired our mission to help other dogs and their humans build confidence, regulate their nervous systems, and create calmer, more connected lives together.

Maude and the Bulldogs was built to honor our four-legged crew behind the scenes: Maude (our feline queen) and, of course, resident bulldogs Ruby, Debra, and Liam.

With a passion for training, boarding, and educating humans and their dogs, we provide a judgment-free environment that supports growth at both ends of the leash. Located in the heart of Madison, WI, we can't wait to be part of your journey.

Ease, fun,
cuddles, &
someone who
GETS it!

About Jen (Me!)

I've been a registered nurse since 2009, with a Master's in Nursing and a passion for education, coaching, and behavior change. While nursing taught me how to stay calm under pressure and meet people where they are, becoming the mom of three rescue bulldogs (two with behavioral challenges) completely changed the trajectory of my life.

Loving a "difficult" dog gave me experience no textbook ever could. Liam's journey, and the transformation we experienced together, showed me what was possible when the relationship between dog and owner is nurtured.

It inspired me to build the philosophy I had been searching for myself (it’s not about ‘fixing’ your dog, it’s to allow you both to live your best lives).

Today, my approach combines my background in behavior change with years of hands-on experience working with dogs and their owners. My goal is simple: to build your relationship with your fur-baby, empower you both, and create lasting change that fits into everyday life.

Education & Experience

Over the years, my knowledge has come through not just my personal experiences but through shadow programs with Method K9, WolfMoonDogs, and PackLeaderHelp, a board & train apprenticeship and working part-time with KANE9 Dog Training & Advocacy, and fostering over 30 dogs. I'm also committed to ongoing continuing education through the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP) and conferences & seminars led by industry leaders.

My love for behavioral change and educating also comes from spending 15+ years as a Registered Nurse (Master's in Nursing — Ohio State University). My background continues to shape the way I work with both dogs and their people, because lasting change happens when everyone on both ends of the leash feels supported.
